Bill Rich
Red House Learning
Founder
About midway through his teaching career, Bill began learning from and working with Chris Jernstedt, a cognitive scientist and professor at Dartmouth. The experience left him gobsmacked. How can it be that educators receive so little training in the biology of how people learn? The troubling question led him to leave teaching and found Red House Learning, LLC, committed to using what we know about the brain to inform what we do in the classroom. Since then, Bill's spread the gospel of brain-based principles of learning design, working with school systems, educators, and students to imagine and design learning experiences more in sync with how people learn. In addition to working long-term with a limited number of Vermont schools, Bill Co-Directs Learning Lab VT with Susan Hennessey and Co-Directs What's the Story? with Tim O'Leary.
